Guns and Reloading

I know it seems cliché, played army, earned Eagle Scout, 82nd Airborne, a college degree and not a Republican.  What can I say all people should have the right to own and have fun with guns.  My fun is IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Ass.)

IDPA is one of my favorite hobbies because it involves shooting one of my three Para-Ordinance pistols; a P-13, P-14 and a Tac-Four.  The Tac-Four is my most recent acquisition.  I shoot very good with the P-14 (about 5k rounds I purchased it.)  Good with the P-13 (3K rounds) but the Tac-Four LDA I shoot great.  First time out I got 2st place in my category.  Second time out I got 1st.  Not bad for a pistol with no modifications.

From the Para-Ordinance web site.

The new Para Tac-Four LDA pistol offers 13*+1 rounds of .45 ACP firepower along with the extra sight radius of a tactical-length 4.25-inch barrel. Although the Tac-Four is designed as a defensive handgun, don't be surprised at competition-level results when you take it to the range… the remarkable anti-flinch LDA trigger system is that good! The flush hammer and bobbed beavertail make for a more concealable, snag-free and easy-drawing package. All-stainless steel construction and double-diamond checkered cocobolo stocks make the Para Tac-Four tops both in durability and appearance.

My local IDPA club meets at the Action Pistol range of the Sacramento Valley Shooting Center on the first Sunday of each month (weather permitting).  It is hard to describe the fun on can have with a bunch of level headed gun enthusiasts who come from all walks of life including Sacramento's finest.  IDPA is good practice for the local and not so local police and sheriffs deputies.  And then there are people like me who just wanted a place to shoot a gun that was not boring.

I have taken on reloading my own ammo because the cost of 45ACP can be quite expensive at $.25 a round.  I can reload at about $.05 a round with my Dillon 650.  This was one of my best investments for the art of shooting.
