Saint Cholesterol Day
Celebrating the Saint of wretched excess.
This is one of those celebrations started in 1994 by my very good friend Caraway. It is sort of a birthday party for himself but because he is a very modest person he would never go about throwing a party for himself so he enlisted the help of a little know saint: Saint Cholesterol. This is the one day during the year to let you inhibitions run wild and your liver suffer at the hands of great quantities of alcohol. Dinner is the main event and Meat and Wine are the courses. After dinner is the cake and coffee to allow us to continue as wide awake drunks. Then comes the pool tournament played on a 120 inch pre 1900 table. Now I suck at pool but can play a mean game on this table. Caraway of course, wins most of the time because "old age and treachery will always triumphs over youth and skill." During the tournament the Port and Stilton cheese makes its rounds. All goes well late into the night. Some leave physically, mentally and some just never get to the door. This is one of the most important holidays for me and definitely for Caraway. Here are the pictures from last year.
